FAQ

1. How do I know if I’m in perimenopause or menopause?

Perimenopause can start years before your period stops, and it doesn’t always look like what you expect. It’s not just hot flashes - it can be sleep disruption, anxiety, brain fog, weight changes, or just feeling “off.”
We don’t rely on one lab test to diagnose this. We look at your symptoms, your cycle patterns, and the full picture of how you’re feeling.

2. Do I actually need hormones, or can I manage this naturally?

It depends on you. Some women do well with lifestyle changes, but many are unnecessarily suffering when hormone therapy could significantly improve their quality of life.
Our approach is never one-size-fits-all - We’ll always meet you where you’re at and build a plan that feels right for you.

3. Is hormone therapy safe? I’ve heard mixed things.

This is the number one concern - and understandably so. A lot of fear comes from older studies that don’t reflect how we practice today.
For the right patient, hormone therapy can be very safe and even protective - for bone, brain, and cardiovascular health.
Our job is to assess your individual risk and guide you through that decision safely.

4. Am I too young or too old to start hormone therapy?

If you’re in your late 30s through 60 and beyond, this becomes an individualized discussion.
Our practitioner will look at your absolute risk factors, and if there are no contraindications, she will walk you through a personalized risk–benefit discussion to determine if you’re a candidate.

5. What symptoms will hormone therapy actually help with?

Hormone therapy can support a wide range of symptoms, including:

  • Hot flashes and night sweats

  • Sleep disruption and insomnia

  • Mood changes, anxiety, and irritability

  • Brain fog and difficulty concentrating

  • Low energy and fatigue

  • Vaginal dryness and discomfort

  • Low libido and changes in sexual function

  • Urinary urgency, frequency, or recurrent UTIs

  • Joint aches and stiffness

  • Changes in skin quality (dryness, loss of elasticity)

  • Hair thinning or increased shedding

  • Weight redistribution, especially through the midsection

What I hear most often, though, is that women feel more like themselves again - and that’s really the goal.

6. How long do I need to be on hormone therapy?

There’s no arbitrary timeline. This isn’t about “getting through menopause” - it’s about supporting your health long-term.
Some women use hormones for a few years, others longer. We reassess regularly and make decisions together based on how you’re feeling and your health goals.

7. What’s the difference between bioidentical hormones and traditional
    HRT?

“Bioidentical” just means the hormone is structurally identical to what your body makes.
In my practice, I focus on evidence-based, regulated options that are both safe and effective - regardless of marketing terms. What matters most is how we prescribe and monitor, not just what it’s called.

8. Do I need bloodwork before starting?

In general, we don’t recommend routine bloodwork before starting hormone therapy. Hormone levels fluctuate significantly in perimenopause and often don’t correlate well with how you’re actually feeling.
That said, regular bloodwork with your primary care provider - looking at things like thyroid function and ferritin - can be helpful as part of the bigger picture when we’re assessing your overall health during your perimenopause and menopause journey.

9. Will this help with my skin, hair, and aging?

Yes - this is something women often notice but don’t always expect. Hormones play a huge role in skin quality, collagen, hydration, and hair health.
While hormone therapy isn’t a replacement for aesthetic treatments, it absolutely supports aging from the inside out.

10. What does the process look like if I want to start?

You’ll start by reaching out to our team- send an email to drkkteam@gmail.com and let us know you’re interested in the program and would like to be added to the waitlist or receive more information.
From there, our team will connect with you and guide you through next steps.
